Welcome to    Outmywindows.com

This site features the nature and wildlife images of David Jesse McChesney.

Please...enjoy your stroll...

David's love of the wild is shared with those who take the time to relive these memorable moments and breathtaking experiences.  Proud of his Scottish "Muir" roots, David has journeyed in the footsteps of John Muir...and beyond.  He has grown to appreciate naturally beautiful scenes such as those displayed on this site.  Through his "windows," has emerged an understanding of creatures and mountains, waterfalls and wonderment.  This is his life's journey.

David has developed a remarkable wildlife sanctuary, rich in flavor of the species'  which visit the Joshua Tree National Park.  His property was certified as a Wildlife Habitiat by the National Wildlife Federation and many of the desert species found on this site were, quite literally, taken out of his "windows" at his Joshua Tree home.  Recently, David's home was visited by an Osprey and Lewis's Woodpecker which are rare migrational species in the Joshua Tree Highlands.  The calendar provided on this site will serve to inform you of important dates (i.e David's many photo. book and musical events, the arrival of Quail Families, nesting and migratory birds, blooming wildflowers, upcoming celestial and other special events).

Note:  David's MILES OF WONDER desert nature and wildlife note cards are available in many Hi-Desert locations such as Joshua Tree National Park, California Welcome Centers, Hi-Desert Nature Museum, Cabot's Pueblo Museum (Desert Hot Springs), Oasis Office Supply (Yucca Valley), Twentynine Palms Art Gallery Gift Shop and the Cocky Cactus (Palm Springs).

David has been photographing and entertaining for the past 30+ years.  His original-style, blues-oriented rock 'n' roll has been presented in over 2500 performances since 1976.  "Hurricane" David has recenty completed a music studio at Outmywindows and enjoys the Joshua Tree atmosphere for both writing and recording.  A harmonica-player extraordinaire, "Hurricane" David began belting the blues 40+ years ago and was influenced by performers such as Sonny Boy Williamson, Paul Butterfield and Junior Wells.  He is a National Harmonica Champion, a title he won at the National Harmonica Festival held in Yellow Pine, Idaho.   His harp and vocal stylings have evolved over the years after winning more than 200 talent competitions earlier in his career.  At the nation's largest blues festival "The King Biscuit Blues Festival" in West Helena, Arkansas, David's expressive harp playing led to his being asked to perform at Hopson's Plantation in Clarksdale, Mississippi, for the homecoming of legendary piano bluesman, "Pinetop" Perkins.  These performances led to two appearances on the famous "King Biscuit Radio Show" with longtime host "Sunshine" Sonny Payne and appearances at other festivals such as the ever-growing Marquette Area Blues Festival on the shores of Lake Superior and in Austin, Texas, where live music is king.   He plans on recording some of his 73 original songs in the next few years while performing at venues, hosting exhibits, making presentations, creating books and continuing his travels.

As President of a local Owners Association in the highlands of Joshua Tree, David uses his influence to save and protect the natural beauty of his environs.  The character of his community, dark night skies, quietude, environmentally friendly practices and the promotion of safe wildlife corridors are issues which he is strongly in favor of.  Today, Joshua Tree is home to less than 6,000 people.  Many homeowners are here part-time and, of those residents who call JT home, there is a larger-than-average number of artists, musicians, environmentalists and outdoor enthusiasts.  Visitors to Joshua Tree often attend various music festivals and art shows.  Rock climbers from around the globe visit to experience the thrill of scaling massive boulders which dominate much of the landscape inside the National Park.  Joshua Tree is a wildlife wonderland.
Because of Joshua Tree's existing appeal, McChesney feels that future growth in the Community should compliment the character which is unique to our area.  His visits to numerous gateway communities reveal opportunities that our little Community may wish to pursue.  Venues to showcase the abundant local talent will attract visitors who will choose to stay, eat, shop, visit the Park and appreciate their sojourns into our midst.

He feels that we are blessed to have found ourselves in this little corner of the World and need to exercise caution in order to protect the magical draw of our Community and keep "Us" a world apart.   This place is like no other place on Earth.
